Karen Herriott-Davies has been in private practice in Victoria BC for the past 26 years. For the Last 38 years she has worked in a variety of settings. She is dual trained in Humanistic Psychology graduated in 1982 from Antioch University and in Psychiatric Nursing in 1968 from the School of Psychiatric Nursing at Riverview Hospital. She trained in counselling and group process at Cold Mountain Institute, The Weaver Institute and at PD Seminars/Haven By the Sea.
As well as maintaining her private practice with individuals, couples and groups Karen works with the Tsawout First Nation as a Counsellor, Educator and Organizational Consultant. She also facilitates workshops for organizations and not for profit groups on Lateral Violence in the Workplace, Conflict resolution, Effective Communications, Team building and Team leadership.
Currently Karen also is the clinical supervisor for the Stopping the Violence program for the counselling and outreach staff of the transition house in Sooke B.C.
For 13 years Karen was the trainer/consultant at the Greater Victoria Citizens Counselling Centre where she designed and facilitated the yearly Counsellor Training Program and supervised practicum students from the University of Victoria and Evergreen and Pacifica Universities as well as the counselors graduated form the training program.
Karen was also an instructor at the Counsellor Training Institute for five years where she taught Clinical Counselling Skills, Human development, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Models of Psychotherapy Gestalt Therapy and Group Therapy.
Karen lives on beautiful Vancouver Island just outside Victoria In a townhouse with three cats. Her personal passions are gardening, ballroom dancing Argentine Tango and reading.
Karen now has two convenient office locations to serve you. # 207-2526 Government St in Victoria and # 10-2210 Sooke Road on the Langford/Colwood boarder.
